Management Team

OpenCourse Solutions is managed by IT professionals with hands-on experience in all aspects of business automation, including software, hardware, networking, systems integration, and systems architecture. The management team has in-depth product knowledge, and includes the original creators of the multi-tier architecture that serves as the technical platform for the OpenCourse product suite. Our managers are proven leaders, with impressive track records in transforming business processes within the golf, resort, travel, hospitality, and food and beverage industries.


  Ron Ward - Founder/CEO

Ron Ward has guided OpenCourse from its inception to its current position as a major provider of products and services to the golf and resort industries. Under his leadership, OpenCourse has expanded its technology offerings from the golf industry to the resort and spa industries, while the company's client base has grown from a single golf ownership group to several premium golf properties and resorts. Prior to his position with OpenCourse, Mr. Ward was chief information officer for Heritage Golf Group, where he standardized and simplified the company's business processes through the implementation of integrated, end-to-end technology solutions. Before joining Heritage, Mr. Ward served as a senior director for Hard Rock Cafe International, a global restaurant and retail enterprise based in Orlando, Florida. In this role, Mr. Ward led all online, customer relationship management and technology efforts. Mr. Ward has also served as a senior manager for the Walt Disney Company and directed technology for a division of FMC Corporation.

  Jay Livingood - Managing Director

Jay Livingood has an extensive background in club technology and sales. Prior to his position at OpenCourse, Mr. Livingood was president and owner of Ally Systems, a company he founded in 2003 to provide point-of-sale systems to retail and restaurant businesses in the state of Virginia. Under his leadership the company added over 120 clients over a two-year period, while developing a number of custom software modules sold to other dealers. Prior to this venture, Mr. Livingood was director of national accounts at Integrated Business Systems (IBS), a leading provider of club management software to the golf industry. Mr. Livingood was instrumental in product installation, support, and development; specializing in POS systems for multi-course management companies.

  Joe Pink - Director of Business Development

A senior partner since the company's inception, Mr. Pink manages key accounts for OpenCourse, providing valuable expertise based on his many years in the golf, hospitality, and technology industries. Prior to his work with OpenCourse, Mr. Pink was a management consultant for Wegner Consulting/Technology Connections, handling large-scale systems integration for golf and hospitality clients throughout the Midwest. From 1995 to 1998, Mr. Pink was president and founder of Linkstime.com, a company that pioneered Internet-based reservation technology in the golf industry. In that role he developed strategic marketing relationships with key golf and travel-related websites, tour operators, and trade associations. Earlier in his career, Mr. Pink was a senior auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, where he planned and administered audits and special projects for major investment, insurance, real estate and manufacturing companies.

  Mike Van Landingham - Business Systems Manager

As the Business Systems Manager for OpenCourse, Mr. VanLandingham is responsible for supporting the company's financial reporting applications, a role for which he is well-qualified as a certified CPA. He is also responsible for requirements analysis, testing, and implementation of new applications, including the Physical Inventory application, the Private Club and Account Management system, and integration with MICROS POS and Great Plains Financials. Prior to his work with OpenCourse, Mr. VanLandingham provided consulting services for Microsoft Great Plains. Earlier in his career, Mr. VanLandingham managed automation services for Bank of America and the Motorola Government Electronics Group.
