Since its inception, OpenCourse Solutions has worked to remove the technical barriers between business systems. As part of this mission, we have consulted with the non-profit organization Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG) to develop a standard communications framework for operational systems in the hotel industry. These standards will enable applications from different vendors to communicate with one another to the mutual benefit of guests, hotel operators, and technology developers.

One of the goals of this collaboration is to make possible a single guest itinerary. By de-coupling the itinerary from Property Management systems and storing it separately, other systems can access the itinerary for adding, updating, and cancelling different types of reservations. This technology will enable guests to access a dynamic itinerary through a variety of media, including in-room television, handheld devices, and the Internet. Such flexibility and convenience will soon be commonplace, and will be a critical success factor as hotel operators compete for guest dollars and loyalty.

There are formidable technical challenges involved in bringing together the many systems that contribute to the guest itinerary. OpenCourse was formed for the purpose of overcoming such challenges. Our groundbreaking work in web service architecture and integrated customer databases has positioned OpenCourse as the leader in customer-centric, next generation technologies. We are now applying this expertise toward overcoming integration challenges in the hotel industry.
